You Can’t-Miss These Seven 4th of July Activities in Cobb County

Fireworks. Barbeques. Reflecting on the history of our nation. All these things can help symbolize everything that makes our country so great. However, celebrating the Fourth of July is more than just throwing a few burgers on the grill and lighting a few sparklers once the sun sets. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to be grateful for everything that makes this country so wonderful. 

Grilling, firework shows, parades, and plenty of other summer fun are almost exclusive to the holiday. If you’re trying to find something here in Cobb County that you can do to celebrate Independence Day, why not check out one of these seven awesome activities? 

Austell Six Flags 4th of July

If you’re a patriot and enjoy being in the spirit of Independence day, then look no further than the Six Flags in Georgia’s 4th of July adventure. If you’re looking just to have fun at the park and catch some fireworks after, you can do all that for the cost of regular admission to the parks. There are plenty of rides to choose from in the amusement park, and if things get a little too hot for your liking, your admission also covers the entrance to the adjoining water park. 

Fireworks will light up the night on July 2nd-July 4th, so any day that weekend could be an exciting getaway. If you’re looking for something extra special, you could pay the extra cost for Hurricane Harbor VIP experience. This includes a burger and hot dog buffet, live entertainment from 6:30-10 PM, and prime viewing seats for the firework show later that evening.

Braves Game on July 4th

This entry could very well be the quintessential option for all things American. The Braves will be hosting the Cardinals at 7:20 PM on July 4th, with a spectacular firework show to follow. This would be the perfect way to round out your 4th of July after an afternoon of grilling, swimming, or any other activities you see fit. 

You could skip the cooking altogether and opt to have your dinner and a few drinks in the stands before the game gets started! After all, what encapsulates the spirit of America more than baseball?

Salute to America Celebration

If you find yourself working on July 4th or already have plans with family, but still want some free time for the holiday, consider heading to the Salute to America Celebration in Kennesaw. The event starts around 6 PM, with two live stages of music going until 10 PM. If you get tired of the music, there will be a kid’s parade, street entertainment, food vendors, and plenty of activities for adults and children to enjoy. 

The Fireworks display will be at 9:30 PM, and the suggested viewing locations are the nearby Adams Park, Depot Park, or Main Street. So if you are interested in some fun this holiday without letting it get heavy on your wallet, swing by the Salute to America Celebration!

Marietta’s Fourth in the Park Celebration

Downtown Marietta will be bustling with events on July 4th, and it could be the perfect way to spend some time with the family. There will be an arts and crafts show, and many other educational activities for the kids to do. There will be carnival games, a parade, live concerts, and of course a prolonged firework display to cap off the evening. The event begins at 10 AM with the parade down Roswell Street. Music starts at noon and finishes with a full-scale concert from a Journey Tribute Band from 7-9:30 PM.

Freedom Celebration at Mount Paran North

If you’re looking to fill up the whole weekend leading up to July 4th, then you might want to make another entry in your calendar. Freedom Celebration at Mount Paran North is a catch this year, and for many good reasons. There will be food trucks, a kid’s zone with bounce houses and other fun, live music, and fireworks to finish the night off. 

Live musical performances will start at 7:30 PM, but there will be hardcore tailgating beforehand. Aside from any food purchased from the food trucks, this is a free event. So start the weekend off with some fun at Mount Paran North!

Stars and Stripes

The Stars and Stripes event at City Springs will be the perfect choice for any music lover. The Rupert’s Orchestra will begin playing a medley of Motown, Swing, Classic Rock, and top 40 hits at 7:30 PM. Food trucks and other vendors will be on-site, but you are welcome to bring your picnic and blanket and settle in for the show. 

Fireworks will kick off at 9:30 PM and will finish off the night. Please note that you can bring your food, however, alcoholic beverages must be purchased on site. So if you like an evening filled with sensual music and delicious food, then look no further than Star and Stripes for your 4th of July celebration.

Powder Springs 4th of July Celebration

Powder Springs will be hosting a car show and a myriad of other exciting activities to celebrate this Independence day. There will be food vendors, two live bands, beer and wine, fun games and activities for the kids, and a spectacular firework show starting at 9:30 PM. 

There will even be vendors on-site to sell you some of the finest patriotic memorabilia you could find in the city! Come on down and enjoy the festivities at Powder Springs if you love cars and socializing with others who share the same passion.

Where to head for the Holiday?

This list, while fantastic, is far from complete, and there are likely barbeques, parties, and celebrations in multiple towns across Cobb County. Being one of the most diverse regions in the nation, it has a lot to offer patriots this 4th of July. There will likely be a firework show around every corner and other celebratory events happening in most town centers.
