Every September the arts calendar in Marietta fills back up. Theater companies post a whole season at once, the symphony and the ballet put dates on sale months ahead, and the museums swap in exhibitions that run through winter. Most of it is already up. I went through what’s opening near us this fall, when each one runs, and what it costs to go.
Acworth Theatre Company – Deathtrap
📍 Rena Henton Theatre at the Acworth Roberts School, 4681 School St, Acworth, GA 30101
🗓️ November 6-8 & November 13-15, 2026
🎟️ $20.80 – $22.94
Acworth Theatre Company just cast Ira Levin’s Deathtrap, and if you know the play you know why I’m excited. It’s the one about a washed-up playwright who gets a little too interested in a former student’s brilliant new script, and from there it turns into two acts of twists that keep flipping on you. Levin’s version of this story ran forever on Broadway for a reason, it’s genuinely funny and genuinely nasty at the same time. It’s staged at the Rena Henton Theatre at Acworth Roberts School, a smaller community house that gives this kind of tight, dialogue-heavy thriller room to breathe. Grab your tickets early since each performance date sells separately.
The Georgia Ballet 2026-2027 Season
📍 Jennie T. Anderson Theatre, Cobb Civic Center, 548 South Marietta Parkway SE, Marietta
🗓️ Season runs October 2026 through 2027, opening with Firebird & Carmen October 22-25, 2026
🎟️ Check pricing on the website
The Georgia Ballet just rolled out its full 2026-2027 season, and it’s a good one: Firebird & Carmen this fall, then The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, and An Evening of Stars later on. Firebird is a company premiere set to Stravinsky, paired with Carmen set to Bizet, both performed live by the Georgia Ballet Symphony rather than a recording, which makes a real difference in a room that size. It all plays at the Jennie T. Anderson Theatre inside the Cobb Civic Center in Marietta. They’ve also built in a sensory-friendly performance of Firebird on opening night, a shorter cut with softened lighting and sound for anyone who needs that option.
Georgia Symphony Orchestra Fall 2026 Season
📍 Bailey Performance Center at Kennesaw State University, 1100 S. Marietta Parkway, Marietta AND Jennie T. Anderson Theatre, 548 South Marietta Parkway SE, Marietta
🗓️ Season opens Saturday, October 10, 2026, and continues through 2026-2027
🎟️ Single tickets from $15-$49.50; Full Series (7 concerts) from $185-$233; Classics Series (5 concerts) from $130-$161; Jazz & Pops Series (3 concerts) from $83-$107
The Georgia Symphony Orchestra kicks off its 76th season with American Tapestry, a program built around Bernstein, Copland, and other American composers, and it’s the kind of concert where a live narrator walks you through the pieces rather than just letting them play cold. This one opens at the Bailey Performance Center at Kennesaw State University, though later in the season the orchestra moves over to the Marietta Performing Arts Center for Holiday Pops and to the Strand Theatre for its jazz shows, so double check which room you’re headed to before each concert. They also do a free half-hour talk with the conductor before the American Tapestry show starts, which is worth showing up early for if you’ve never been to one of these.
UWG Theatre Company Fall Production
📍 Townsend Center Mainstage, University of West Georgia, Carrollton, GA (regional theater serving West Georgia area)
🗓️ September 30 – October 4, 2026 (Community Preview: September 29)
🎟️ Check pricing on the website
UWG Theatre Company opens its season with The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, the stage adaptation of the novel about a teenager investigating his neighbor’s dog and, along the way, everything else going on in his own house. It’s a story that moves between humor and something heavier without ever picking just one lane, which is part of why the adaptation has stuck around. The run plays at the Townsend Center Mainstage, with a community preview the night before regular performances start and a matinee added on the final Sunday. All shows are open to the public, not just students, so it’s worth the trip out to Carrollton if you want to catch a full production for less than what you’d pay closer to town.
Master Mash-Up: Reimagining the Classics (Open Call)
📍 Mable House Arts Center, 5239 Floyd Road SW, Mableton, GA 30126
🗓️ September 24 – November 6, 2026
🎟️ Free and open to the public
Mable House Arts Center’s new gallery show, Master Mash-Up: Reimagining the Classics, takes familiar art history and lets local artists twist it into something new, which is exactly the kind of show I like pointing people toward because it’s approachable even if you don’t know a thing about art. It fills the center’s gallery spaces, which include three main rooms plus a smaller hallway gallery, all showing work from artists in the area. The center itself is a quieter stop than the bigger museums around Cobb, open on weekdays during business hours with evening and weekend visits available if you call ahead. Since it’s free, it’s an easy one to swing by on a weekend afternoon without any planning.
Most of these are on sale now. Pick one, put the date in your calendar, and buy the ticket while you’re thinking about it.
