7 Fun Fall Activities in Cobb County

Fall is here and that means more than just a change in the weather. Besides, sometimes it can take several weeks or more after the official start of Autumn before the weather cools down in Cobb County. When it does, however, it’s time to celebrate some of the best holidays of the year. That includes Halloween, of course. With fall comes family fun such as visits to pumpkin patches and corn mazes, plus Octoberfests of many varieties.

1. Pumpkin Patch and Maze at Still Family Farm 

Fall is here, and that means pumpkin picking season is now! Explore the 11-acre agricultural attraction of the Still Family Farm. This place offers a range of fun activities for both kids and adults. That includes a five-acre corn maze, the pumpkin patch, paint-a-pumpkin, a fall-themed market, concessions, and plenty of activities for the children. Kids activities include a kiddie climb, roly-poly, and hayride. 

At the pumpkin patch, you’ll find pumpkins of all shapes and sizes, such as jack-o-lanterns, warty gourds, minis, and giants. Capture the gorgeous backdrops of the five-acre flower maze with your camera. Before you leave, paint your own pumpkin pie to take home and purchase other goodies like authentic honey, handmade wreaths, corn stalks, and a large hay bale. 

General admission is $16 per person and gives you entry to all activities. Children four and under get in for free. Season passes are available for $28. For groups of 10 or more, the group rate is $12 per person.

2. Enjoy a Musical, Film, or Play at the Strand Theatre

As the weather gets cooler, what better way to enjoy the night than to see a local play, film, or musical? The Strand is a great place to experience live performances on an intimate level or revisit classic films.

Every Wednesday at The Strand Theatre, enjoy an evening of laughing (or groaning) at Open Mic Comedy Night. Best of all, it’s free! Support local comedians or perform your own material on stage and get an immediate reaction from the crowd. The Lumiere Lounge on the second floor is the perfect spot to enjoy the best craft cocktails in town and soothing piano music every Friday and Saturday night. 

A few of the upcoming events for fall 2021 include screenings of Casablanca, Dirty Dancing, Young Frankenstein, and Clue. Live music events include performances by the Atlanta Brass Cats and End of the Line Allman Brothers Tribute. Special holiday screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show as the Midnight Movie on October 29 and The Phantom of the Opera: Silent Film Experience on October 31.

3. Spend a Day at Chalktoberfest 

Are you a craft beer enthusiast? Then the Chalktoberfest at Marietta Square is your kind of fest. At this street fest, there are over 120 different types of craft beers along with 25 varieties of wine to taste while walking on the colorful streets of Marietta Square. 

Or, if you’re really into the “charts” (chalk + arts), Chalktoberfest is also known for its live chalk art. Dozens of artists in the U.S. and around the world have put their talents on display on the streets. Take a stroll down on Marietta street to see these beautiful works of art. Of course, what’s a street festival without food? Chalktoberfest includes an artisan market and food trucks from local vendors, so you can munch on tasty cultured food. There is no admission fee and Chalktoberfest is open to the public.

4. Take Your Children on a Pony Ride

Fall weather is the best time to go horseback riding. It’s not too hot and not too cold. Spend some quality time with your children by giving them the unique experience of riding a pony. If you have kids who want to learn how to ride a pony, East Cobbs Stables is a safe place to do it. Hold a birthday party at the stable or even take private lessons. 5. Go On an Adventure with Vintage Biplane Rides

7. Enjoy the Thrill of FrightFest at Six Flags Over Georgia 

Six Flags Over Georgia is the most thrilling theme park you’ll find in Cobb County. Experience thrill rides, family rides, kids rides, and water rides until you just can’t ride any longer. Plus there are many dining options to keep you energized. Just don’t eat too much before going on the Dare Devil Dive or Blue Hawk rollercoasters. 

In the fall, Six Flags Over Georgia overs FrightFest passes for as low as $19.99 or $29.99 for a day pass. This gives you access to all of the haunted attractions in the park. Their haunted attractions feature mazes where you navigate a labyrinth in darkness. Beware of the scary creatures lurking there! You can also enter the ScareZone with plenty of monsters hiding in the shadows. Keep an eye out for them on your rides too, one could be sitting in the seat next to you!
