1. Meals On Wheels
Cobb County’s Meals on Wheels aims to address the issue of senior hunger and isolation. Their goal is to serve seniors in County County to ensure no senior is left hungry. The rate of seniors is growing exponentially, and the number of seniors in the country is expected to double in the next three or four decades. Meals on Wheels delivers over 50,000 meals every year to serve the health and wellbeing of our seniors. When you become a volunteer, you’ll most likely be delivering meals and greeting the homebound seniors in your local community. Typically, volunteers will pick up meals at a designated central location and go through a predetermined route to deliver them directly to the homes of seniors in your area. You can also volunteer in the kitchen to prepare hot and nutritious meals for seniors. These meals are packaged individually and handed off to delivery volunteers.
